Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The article deals with the main topics covered by the 11th International Symposium on Vine Genetics, held in China in the summer of 2014, which increasingly include aspects of molecular biology, linked to structural and functional genomics, mirroring the scientific evolution of the "Life sciences "at a global level. These are the so-called "omics" sciences, which also include metabolomics (analysis of all grape compounds), phenomics (the Modena vision of classical ampelography) and proteomics (analysis of all proteins). These omic sciences produce an enormous series of data that need two fundamental tools to be useful, such as their bioinformatics management and the databases to store information. The article then reports some of the author's reflections on the topic of GMO taboos and others on the health aspects of grapes and wine.
