[Autom. eng. transl.] The work presents a brief reflection on the belief that health education is definitively undermined (if not already defeated) by the destructive convergence of a series of. political, social, cultural, anthropological dynamics, such as: consumerist pressures on the use of drugs or diagnostic services or the adoption of any lifestyle linked to purely “hedonistic” seductions, skipping any educational or even medical professional mediation ; the disappearance of the space of practicability and culture for reflection and slowness that is a presupposition of that intimate growth of the self which is the goal of education; the lack of interest in knowledge and knowing how to be, but just for the know-how and problem solving, for which deep health education, basic training, participatory communication are needed, but only instructions for use, professionalization, rules and prohibitions; the decrease (or disappearance) of the authority of the NHS as a whole and the destruction of the credibility and authority of its operators. In the absence, to date, of prospects for radical changes for which the theories and actors are lacking, perhaps that health education, its defense and attempts to practice it must therefore by those who continue to take care of it be considered a noble by as residual civil witness; waiting for a future - which appears rather close, and rather ineluctable - in which all meaning disappears from education, every need, every project, and the word itself.
