[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution reconstructs the debate that arose on the occasion of the second International Congress of deaf-and-dumb masters, which took place in Milan in 1880. Specifically, the comparison developed between the defenders of the oral method and those of the mimic-gestural and mixed method is highlighted. . Furthermore, particular attention is given to Don Giulio Tarra, director of the Institute for the Deaf and Mute of Milan and President of the Congress.
