[Autom. eng. transl.] The social worker is an expert in "methodology of living" (methodology of life planning). He is a professional who must continually understand how to enter life perceived as unsatisfactory or out of control of people who are initially strangers, who turn to him in the hope of having various comforts or aids. Some of these benefits the operator will extract from them already packaged by the welfare "system" in the form of objective provisions, other aids will instead be built by the "generative" capacity of the helping relationship that will be established (Folgheraiter, 1998 ; Raineri, 2004). In any case, help is to be understood in a global sense as the construction or redefinition or support of a life project.
