Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] «With Eleonora Duse the highest female Italian spirit of our time has died out. My tears are without consolation ». So wrote Ada Negri in memory of her late friend and famous actress, met in person on June 28, 1921 in her Milan home in via Guastalla 3. Indelible memories of that long-awaited and, by the poetess, repeatedly urged meeting, like of those linked to the 1938 Asolan 'pilgrimage' which inspired the lyric Church of Sant'Anna and the homonymous prose in the churchyard in Erba.
