Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The article explores the flourishing flourishing of hermitical experiences in southern Italy after the year one thousand, starting from San Nilo da Rossano and Bruno di Querfurt, to reach the life forms of Romualdo of Ravenna. During the 12th century the Mezzogiorno saw the organization of the hermitages at Montevergine and at the Goleto with Guglielmo da Vercelli, as well as the experiences of hermit life of Giovanni da Matera and his followers.
