Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] For some years now, studies on the history of education have highlighted the role played by the pedagogical periodical press in the various phases of the history of our country, as well as in other foreign realities, in illustrating, accompanying, criticizing or hindering the pedagogical innovation and of the didactic practice of the school. This contribution examines one of these sheets, namely «Scuola Italiana Moderna», born in Milan in 1893, but moved to Brescia the following year, and an expression of Catholic intransigentism. The time span considered by the research is the one between the two world wars and highlights how «Scuola Italiana Moderna» renewed itself to be, in turn, an instrument for the renewal of primary education and the training of teachers. The analysis mainly examined the articles published in the didactic section, i.e. the one which more than the other sections documents the attitude of the «Modern Italian School» towards the evolution of elementary school practice, involved in the national mobilization during the wars , by the Gentile reform, especially by the work of Giuseppe Lombardo Radice, and in an increasingly pressing way by the process of fascism promoted by the regime.
