Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Four essays analyze historical cases of festivals and theatrical performances made in Milan and Lombardy in the Spanish age. These are dynastic and noble celebrations, college performances and academic rituals: the events studied (a show, based on a text by Emanuele Tesauro, set up at the Jesuit college of Brera; the rituals of the Accademia dei Faticosi; a party and a opera in music for the wedding of the Spanish governor; a party with shows for the wedding of the heir of the patrician families of the Borromeo - Arese) are exemplary to observe how the languages of representation and celebration were essential and precise communication tools politics and construction of social identity in the Old Regime, as well as means of elaboration and diffusion of models and systems of values.
