Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume collects the documents of the seventh day of study "Books and readers in Brescia between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age", held on May 5, 2017 at the Brescia headquarters of the Catholic University. It is a now traditional appointment, aimed at enhancing the rich cultural heritage that the city has offered over time, through its authors, copyists, printers, publishers and artists. The contributions gathered here offer an interdisciplinary path that ranges from the identification of engravers who collaborated with ancient typographies to the reconstruction of the cultural context linked to the Brescia curia, from the analysis of some lucky editions to the rediscovery of forgotten characters of local culture, from the finding on the market antiquarian of curious texts at studies around fragments of book nuclei preserved in Brescia's libraries. The essays, signed by young researchers and established scholars, thanks to different approaches and methodologies of investigation, offer a framework that confirms the wealth of research ideas that Brescia's cultural history continues to offer.
