Abstract

The essay reconstruct the flourishing of Catholic literature shortly after the Concordato, following the ostracism the Catholics had suffered for decades due to the positivist and idealistic culture, and the guiding principles of an ambitious plan of cultural supremacy. A thick web of militant initiatives (reviews, publishing series, conferences) was organized by a number of Catholic groups scattered throughout the Peninsula, always poised between the primacy of literary values and mission reasons.
