Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The examination by Gaspar Loarte of the Instruction into the meditation of the passion of Christ allows us to illuminate the devotional background in which the religious piety of the circle gathered around Carlo Borromeo matured, linking it to meditative practices that found a fundamental support in the use of images gathered in the scenographic complexes of the Sacred Mountains.
