Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The founding of the city of Veracruz by Hernán Cortés has produced many historical analyzes, which have mostly focused on investigating the decisions made by the Spanish captain. On the contrary, Schwaller and Nader analyze the manuscript of the petition sent by the City Council to the Kings on June 20, 1519 to offer a socio-economic analysis of the expedition that exceeds the figure and purposes of Cortes.
