Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] According to article 4 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights "no individual may be kept in a state of slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade will be prohibited in any form ”. Slavery is a very ancient phenomenon widespread on all continents. A slave is a legal property - where the legal notion of ownership is present - and he owes obedience to his master. It is also a mental condition that does not necessarily imply physical violence. The history of Africa is not the history of slavery. And the history of slavery does not correspond to the history of Africa.
