Søren Kierkegaard in the Italian Anti-Fascist Propaganda of the 1930s

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The first Italian edition of Søren Kierkegaard’s polemical newspaper Øjeblikket (The Moment) in 1931 represents an emblematic case of how a country’s cultural and political situation can determine or influence the choice of foreign literature to be translated. The aim of this article is to provide an account of the history of the Italian reception of Kierkegaard’s newspaper. However, in order to understand this case, it is necessary to understand the meaning of the work in its original context and the conditions under which it was created.
