Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Rorty and Putnam present very complex profiles, because they found themselves at the center of a crossroads where three great philosophical traditions meet - analytic philosophy, pragmatism and continental thought - that the two American philosophers interpret in different ways. Rorty takes epistemology as the main target, Putnam feels that the problem of realism is an inescapable problem, wondering what our "connection to the world" is to avoid relativism, which represents the node on which the contrast between the two contemporary pragmatists is focused. to confront each other on problems related to truth, rationality and the role of philosophy itself. This volume deals in particular with the problems related to these notions, in an attempt to shed light on the terms in which neopragmatism arises in relation to relativism, which is not only what the contrast between the two American philosophers focuses on, but is also that on which contemporary thought is explicitly or implicitly questioned and divided.
