Abstract
The chapter aims to provide an analytical discussion of the concept of social risk in the light of contemporary sociology and in particular of relational sociology. Risk is defined as a adequate/inadequate relationship between challenges and resources available people living in a certain social context. Three risk models are discussed: needs-model, transactions-model and transitions-model.
