Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume illustrates an extraordinary pictorial cycle, datable to the penultimate decade of the fifteenth century, which remained hidden for a long time inside a building overlooking one of the main streets of Ponte, formerly owned by the powerful Quadrio family and known in more recent times as the seat of the former -social dairy. To the remarkable quality of the wall painting, which gathers around it a Valtellina figurative season that is still poorly clarified and valued in its relations with the main centers of the Milanese duchy, is added the peculiarity of an iconographic arrangement of a religious, cultured and up-to-date nature, expressed in the interior of a building which suggests both residential and civil use. The artists considered are Felice Scotti, Bartolomeo Benzi and other painters active at the end of the fifteenth century between Valtellina and Lake Como.
