Riferimento plurale

[Autom. eng. transl.] In the philosophy of language the plural reference has received much less attention than the singular one. In this article the hypothesis is advanced that this is at least in part due to the classical interpretation of predicates as functions from objects to truth values. Since functions of this type can only accept singular arguments, this has led to either a lack of attention towards the plural reference or even the attempt to reduce it to the singular one. There are two objectives of this essay: the first is to show that the attempts to reduce the plural reference to the singular one fail, the second is to sketch an alternative theory of predication that is compatible with the plural reference.
