Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In today's society the relationship between play, childhood and nature is experienced in an increasingly tangential way. Playing outside, outdoors, especially in urban contexts, is limited by places, times and types. Nature is the founding element of the quality of life even if not always consciously lived. Today's children live and play in a packaged world: inside a house, inside a school, inside a classroom, a room, a gym, limited in the possibilities of being in open spaces. Excessive containment and fear are the result of an adult lack of competence to live in a simple and harmonious way "outside", in contact with nature. Nature is reduced to a pleasant reality to look at but not to touch, a frame to photograph, a side dish for children to play but not a place to have authentic experiences. It is up to adults to find ways to value what surrounds us. A pedagogy oriented towards outdoor education is an opportunity to rethink being children and adults today, soliciting shared life moments. If explored in its transformative potential, outdoor education can contribute to bringing the right to play between in and out to life, where the outside is experienced not as an accessory space, for improvisation or entertainment but as a significant resource to give new life blood. to dialogue between generations.
