Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The VI Volta Conference, held in Rome in October
1936, placed it at the center of the international critical debate
the relationship of architecture with the figurative arts. Sculptors,
painters and architects expressed themselves in the early thirties,
both theoretically and in concrete realizations on the theme of
decoration of the rooms and the rediscovered role of figurative art
in architecture. In particular, the architect Marcello
Piacentini even reaffirmed the function on that occasion
"Supporter" of architecture in relation to pictorial art
and sculptural, believed to be in «a state of great discomfort and of
great disorientation ”and suggests which models the great one
decoration of the thirteenth century and the Renaissance. Starting then
from the analysis of this significant conference, the contribution
intends to emphasize, also through the analysis of some relevant ones
monumental sculptural feats, on the debate in art
decorative of the Thirties, divided between poetics and fascist rhetoric,
at the same time putting this theme in relation to the works
monumental works by Libero Andreotti.
