Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The VI Volta Conference, held in Rome in October 1936, placed it at the center of the international critical debate the relationship of architecture with the figurative arts. Sculptors, painters and architects expressed themselves in the early thirties, both theoretically and in concrete realizations on the theme of decoration of the rooms and the rediscovered role of figurative art in architecture. In particular, the architect Marcello Piacentini even reaffirmed the function on that occasion "Supporter" of architecture in relation to pictorial art and sculptural, believed to be in «a state of great discomfort and of great disorientation ”and suggests which models the great one decoration of the thirteenth century and the Renaissance. Starting then from the analysis of this significant conference, the contribution intends to emphasize, also through the analysis of some relevant ones monumental sculptural feats, on the debate in art decorative of the Thirties, divided between poetics and fascist rhetoric, at the same time putting this theme in relation to the works monumental works by Libero Andreotti.
