Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter addresses the theme of the network understood as a support for the dissemination of information but also and above all as a technological infrastructure that enables social, cultural, economic and power transformations. First, an overview of the evolution of the network par excellence, the Internet, is outlined.
with the aim of showing its various articulations in terms of
functions, logics of organization and power. The chapter then takes
take into consideration the role of the imagination in defining understanding
of the Internet, and take a look at what is happening
outside the West. It then continues with an in-depth analysis
theoretical on the concept of "network" as a heuristic tool
of the new dynamics of contemporaneity and conclude
with a critical look on the issues of Internet governance.
