Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In this work I propose the study of the rhetorical structure of the spells contained in the Ritual de los Bacabes, a colonial document of primary importance in the context of Yucatecan Mayan literature, but little studied by critics. Its esoteric language, its rhetorical organization and its refined symbolism allow us to understand the functions of ritual language and the incorporation of practical knowledge, associated with the use of medicinal plants, within the rhetorical framework of the text. I will focus especially on the study of the marks of orality present in these ritual documents and their phonetic resources, intended to facilitate the memorization of prayers. I will also dedicate myself to the study of textual symbolism and paronomastic networks, capable of linking diseases, body parts, animals and medicinal plants in the same healing act.
