Abstract

This work has its source in the interest for the processes of linguistic hybridization and its relationship with the development of a system for representing the contemporary Cuban fictional reality. It focuses on two young authors: Ronaldo Menéndez (De modo que esto es la muerte) and Lorenzo Lunar (Que en vez de infierno encuentres gloria), and considers language as the supporting element of a representation which proposes itself as anchored to the referent of the most recent political processes of the island and their social repercussions. The popular language is also seen as a point of departure for a fiction which, from its mimetic aspiration, gradually moves towards an exaltation of artifice, above all in the detective novel (Lunar) and in the expressionist models (Menéndez). The popular nature of the languages and jargons which are chosen by the authors as a vehicle of expression also influence a strong hybridization of elevated and popular genres which, in their textual coexistence, interpret the conflicts of the represented world.
