Abstract
The paper is about the cultural relationship between Florence and Milan around the mid nineteenth century: thanks to the marriage between Marianna Rinuccini from Tuscany and Giorgio Teodoro Trivulzio from Milan there was a huge movement of art masterpieces, which marked an important step in the filed of collecting and Old Masters market.
In order to create the right temporal and geographical context the main sources are: inventories, auction and exhibition catalogues, correspondence and accountancy papers from the private archives of the families involved. Some family portraits were also found and added to create the right historical setting.
