Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Water is a crucial element in the vegetative-productive cycle of the vine and, even if modest deficits are tolerated especially in black berried vines, a deficiency can lead to dangerous production and quality losses. Global warming is changing the water management approach, even in the central-northern areas of our country, which must be more careful than in the past. Water is one of the main reagents in the photosynthesis process and in numerous other biochemical events, as well as essential for the dissipation of excess energy and for the maintenance of a correct cellular turgor, necessary for growth, for the movements of the stomata and for the functioning of the root system. Its limitation can therefore cause deviations in the basic physiology with negative repercussions on the performances of the plants.
