Abstract
Olive (Olea europaea L.) is among the most ancient\r\ntree crops worldwide and the source of oil beneficial for human\r\nhealth. Despite this, few data on olive genetics are available in\r\ncomparison with other cultivated plant species. Molecular\r\ninformation is mainly linked to molecular markers and their\r\napplication to the study ofDNAvariation in the Olea europaea\r\ncomplex. In terms of genomic research, efforts have beenmade\r\nin sequencing, heralding the era of olive genomic. The present\r\npaper represents an update of a previous review work published\r\nin this journal in 2011. The review is again mainly focused on\r\nDNA markers, whose application still constitutes a relevant\r\npercentage of themost recently published researches. Since the\r\nolive genomic era has recently started, the latest results in this\r\nfield are also being discussed.
