Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The provocative question contained in the title of the volume edited by professors Gecchele, Polenghi and Dal Toso refers to the objective that the text aims to achieve, namely to probe from different perspectives the idea of childhood that has characterized Europe in the twentieth century . Can one really define the twentieth century as the child's century, as the noted Swedish educator Ellen Key hoped optimistically? Guided by an interest in providing an answer to this question, the authors of the contributions of the volume, Italian and foreign scholars, outline a balance from the historical-educational cut of the last century, which the present review analyzes.
