The essay aims to discuss categories such as "virtuality" and "reality" in school learning. It makes this in three steps. First of all is discussed the idea of "virtuality" in its meaning of "lack of reality" trough an historical analysis of term's reception. Second, the essay trys to show the main aspects of what we mean when we talk about virtuality and reality: doing this it outlines its cognitive and didactical inplications. Finally, through the analysis of opposite pedagogical points of view, it becomes clear that the main issue is the relationship between time and education. So, the last part of the essay is devoted to design a quick profile of what we can call a "pedagogy of the time".
