Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic caused an unprecedented health and economic emergency and imposed new priorities on politics and society as a whole. This could lead us to hypothesize that the spread of the virus was therefore able to "shift" the fears of citizens elsewhere who, especially in 2019, were mostly directed towards the Other (immigrant, Jew, Roma, Muslim). To address this issue, on the basis of the most recent empirical investigations, the contribution develops from the Italian pre-Covid context, analyzing the presence and spread of racism in some of its main forms, and compares it with the context which took shape after the outbreak of the pandemic, analyzing in particular the attitudes of hostility and repulsion towards the members of ethnic minorities. Finally, the contribution proposes a reflection on the future scenarios opened by the crisis that has hit our company.
