Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Since the first years after the establishment of the Society of Jesus (1540), with the foundation and start-up of the first colleges for the education of the young (1548), the need to have a system of studies had made its way. uniform, which directed the teaching activity and constituted its distinctive feature. In 1599 the definitive edition of the Ratio atque institutio studiorum Societatis Iesu saw the light, a grandiose pedagogical construction capable of representing
the effective tool for the formation of the European elites of the centuries of modernity and to have a profound impact on school customs and on education and training practices up to the threshold of contemporaneity. The meticulousness of the teaching requirements, its dissemination to all upper secondary education institutions, and finally the centrality of the classical-humanistic tradition make it one of the most effective access keys to the organization and
to the forms of culture of modern centuries.
