Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Alcide De Gasperi and Gorizia. Italy and the frontier lands in the Archives of the Fathers of the Republic, the result of the synergy between the Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia Foundation and the De Gasperi Foundation, investigates the relationship that the city of Gorizia has had with the political leaders of the newborn Italian Republic in the delicate phases of definition of the Italian eastern border after World War II. From the documentation found in the personal collections of Alcide De Gasperi, Pietro Nenni, Palmiro Togliatti, Angelo Culot and in the Archive of the Christian Democrats of Gorizia, the Diocesan Archive of Gorizia and the Historical Archive of the Chamber of Deputies clearly emerge as Italian Gorizia was the result of the concomitance of a multiplicity of factors, including ethnic claims and interests of a political and economic nature. This volume offers a reasoned anthology of sources, to which the introductory part refers promptly, offering an indispensable historical contextualization of the individual documents.
