Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In the elaborate and complex Commentary on the Sentences, the Franciscan Giovanni di Ripa, through a "labyrinthine scheme of arguments", addresses the epistemological problem by trying to identify the cognitive capacity of man pro statu ipso, evaluating the possibility of having some knowledge of God However, the Franciscan insists on the possibility of a finite intellect to go beyond its own limits, its own wound, to welcome an absolute and infinite object.
The present condition of man excludes on the one hand the immutatio formalis of the uncreated concept and on the other the intuitive species that constitutes his spiritual nature, image of God.
A noetics philosophically proven and presented as apparentia founded in the identity of apparentia obiectiva and apparentia formalis in God and in the vision of God starting from the clarification of the notion of form, grafted onto an imposing metaphysical structure allows the Supersubtle to guarantee a knowability naturaliter attingibilis of God, to whom not only every essence refers essentially and in the first instance, but who is also the guarantor of the being-true of anything, since the relationship of causal origin from God and similarity with God of every creature is such which on the one hand metaphysically grounds the existence of creation in God, and on the other subordinates its intellectual knowability to the immensity of God's being.
