Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay examines the reasons for the condemnation of the novel Il Santo by Antonio Fogazzaro to the Index, with investigations on the documents of the trial, on all the writings of the Author, on the correspondence between Fogazzaro and contemporary Catholic intellectuals in Europe and America as well as with members of the high clergy, on articles published in Catholic magazines around the writer from Vicenza since the time of his first public tests.
