Psicologia della violenza di genere

[Autom. eng. transl.] One in three women is the very serious estimate of the number of women in the world who are victims of psychological, physical or sexual violence, which has made gender violence a public health emergency, as well as a violation of human rights. The other side of the coin is the traumatic condition of children who are victims of witnessed violence due to the mistreatment suffered by their mothers and of the special orphans produced by feminicides. This is a complex multifactorial phenomenon, mostly hidden, which requires specialized training of professionals who interface with situations of violence, to be able to recognize them first of all and then to provide conscious listening and effective support to women and minors. This manual tries to provide the most exhaustive overview possible from a multidisciplinary point of view of the phenomena of domestic violence - more specifically of Intimate Partner Violence - and witnessed violence. The volume addresses these issues first of all from a sociological point of view, providing the reader with gender lenses to focus on the stereotypes and historical-cultural factors that represent the roots of these forms of violence. Subsequently, the civil prevention and criminal protection tools to combat gender and domestic violence are described from a legal point of view. To understand how violence subtly insinuates itself into couple relationships and then becomes chronic in a spiral that imprisons the victim, the psychological consequences and emotional, social and material constraints that influence the paths to escape from violence are analysed; the operational practices of the Territorial Anti-Violence Networks are then illustrated. The last part of the volume broadens the focus on minor victims of witnessed violence: the specific consequences of this form of child abuse are explored and the strategies for protecting and promoting the well-being of the victims are presented, adopting a dyadic mother-child perspective. .
