Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] How many times do we have the opportunity to stop and reflect on the reasoning processes, emotions and motivations that come into play in our work? A reflection on this topic can often be difficult, also because in many cases these psychological dimensions intervene in our activity in an unconscious manner. And yet what is unaware can, at least in part, return to the realm of awareness and become the object of our reflection. For example, sometimes we wonder if and how it is possible to change some of our habits, given that, being such, they tend to activate automatically and with little control on our part. The answer is yes, it is possible to change a habit, in the sense that much of what is (or has become) automatic and unconscious can return to being controlled and aware through a process of metacognition and self-reflection. And undoubtedly, sometimes it is worth engaging in a process of reflection to gain greater mastery over what we think, feel and do, and to also develop the possibility of activating a process of change, if we deem it appropriate.
