Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The extent of the programs of defense of the vine depends on many factors, such as the combination of rootstock grapevine, soil and climatic conditions and other cultural techniques. Since it is not possible to renounce them, all attempts to rationalize, possibly reducing costs, are absolutely desirable . To this need of an economic nature is also added that of an environmental nature, as well as the need to safeguard the relations between the population and the agricultural world. The reduction in the use of traditional pesticides against pests and diseases is part of the great trend of environmental sustainability, and the goal can be achieved through different paths, such as biocontrol, rationalization of treatments (forecasting models and recovery equipment), the use of less sensitive plants. With regard to this last aspect, there are several possible actions, such as genetic improvement (especially hybridization and, in the future, the new frontiers of cis-genesis and genome editing), the cultivation of terroir vines unfavorable to pests and techniques cultivation that does not force production, the use of the mechanisms' helicopters, such as chitosan, to protect the plant against diseases.
