Abstract

The chapter presents one of the four ‘analysis of case’, chosen from the research: the case of the area of S.Vito Romano (Rome RM5), which has been analyzed through informative materials and interviews to institutional actors and presidents of voluntary associations. The volunteers’ participation to this kind of ‘area plans’, according to an analysis of the district, allows you to detect both some of the potentialities of volunteerism (an opportunity to reflect, willingness to cooperate in many activities and services) and some of its limits (mainly practical commitment, unawareness of its role in social policy). In relation with the topic ‘Participation of volunteers to the area plans’, the analysis of the district shows that : -there is not much consciousness of the potentialities of the ‘area plan’ as a mean to achieve the purposes of volunteerism; -there are different ways to participate and to contribute to it.
