[Autom. eng. transl.] The reflections conducted in this essay are based on the widespread relaxation of mutual trust between states and between nations that contrast the current historical phase under the pressure of dramatic events (such as wars and forced migration) and the illusory search for solutions unilateral in the name of national interest and raison d'etat. Overcoming this worrying situation is made difficult by the high differentiation of the interests and world-chances that characterize our plural societies, and yet it is decidedly urgent to avoid falling into more serious conflicts and suffering. A valuable contribution to strengthening the practical good of being together can only come from the irrelevant and irresistible method of dialogue that requires the commitment of each to listen to the other's reasons and to pursue together more equitable and just living conditions .
