Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The central theme of this book is generativity. As in the family, generative and / or degenerative processes are also at work in the community: the former produce wealth and social capital, increasing family and social histories; the latter develop discomfort, undermine family history and cause the deterioration and disappearance of social traditions, even of civilization. The contributions of the present volume are situated within a complex framework of reference that identifies trust and reciprocity as the basis of family and social relations. The encounter between family histories, between generations, between fathers and children are areas in which generativity is produced and put to the test. Moreover, the biblical perspective, proposed in the first essay, documents how in the history of humanity religion, first Jewish and then Christian, proposed a horizon of absolute novelty on human generativity. Giving life to family communities, the prosocial commitment of young people, conducting paths of promotion and enrichment of family ties are different but congruent ways of initiating forms of generative trust, cooperation and reciprocal exchanges, that is, of social capital.
