Abstract
Ensuring quality in Early Childhood Education and Care is a strategic challenge in today’s society; the urgency of investing in this direction is well covered in national and international documents also because of the strong link between the quality of training and the growth of the country system. Likewise, there is agreement that parents are the most important allies and that their participation is to be promoted as far as quality is concerned. Nevertheless, in practice this task is extremely complex and challenging for all the players involved. The paper aims to reflect on this question by problematizing some relevant points thanks also to some empirical data collected in Italian kindergartens. Moving from these considerations, some pathways are outlined for those who deal with the training of education professionals.
