Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] As part of the Youth Report survey, this contribution focuses on the scholastic experience of young people, on perceived well-being and on the relevant factors with respect to dropouts, the choice of upper secondary education and the university. The data show a range of scholastic experiences in which the positive tones prevail moderately, although there are also critical issues, known problems and still too many accidents. In an educational system like the Italian one poorly integrated with the labor market, young people consider the school above all for its intrinsic value. In the representations, personal motivation, performance and relationships within the scholastic context are placed in the foreground as a fundamental positive and negative aspect of their educational career. Only when these dimensions are experienced as problems, the appeal of a poorly qualified job makes itself felt and the early abandonment of studies becomes a viable option, especially in areas where there is more supply and in families with an ethos less marked by education values.
