Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The study focused on the processes of acculturation by the adopted with regard to the cultural background of origin within the context of family relationships. A questionnaire was administered to 120 adopted adolescents and young adults and their respective parents. The results showed that the mother's cultural socialization strategies are positively associated with the process of re-acculturation of the adopted, which in turn promotes the construction of ethnic identity; a positive impact of the latter on the level of self-esteem was also highlighted. Finally, the moderating role of the Italian national identity was verified with respect to the link between ethnic identity and self-esteem.
