[Autom. eng. transl.] The publication of the Italian edition of the individual volumes of Order and History was followed by an interdisciplinary discussion on the main theses advanced by Voegelin in the first volume, Israel and revelation. A group of experts from various disciplinary fields involved in the work was invited to discuss the following topics: innovations of the overall concept of Order and History with respect to that of the History of Political Ideas (PJ Opitz, N. Scotti Muth); ideology and gnosis in Voegelin (N. Lobkowicz); applicability of the category of cosmological form to the Mesopotamian civilization (G. Buccellati) applicability of the applied to the Achaemenid civilization (G. Sfameni-Gasparro); breaking of the cosmological order in the experience of Israel and its connections with postmodern thought (H.-B. Gerl-Falkovitz); fruitfulness of the categories of "pragmatic history" and "paradigmatic history" to understand the specificities of biblical historiography and to detect the inadequacies deriving from a unilateral use of the historical-critical method (I. Carbajosa). The discussion was introduced by M. Marassi, Director of the UC Philosophy Department. The volume is intended as the first of a series of Companions to the five volumes of Order and History.
