Abstract
This introduction explains the reasons that led to organize a two-day workshop on "Right patient, right place, right time. When and how to use the Emergency Department: Health Literacy, Decision-making and Communication" (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan, April, 11-12, 2014); then briefly summarizes the contribution of the next forum, which aroused particular interest during the workshop.
