[Autom. eng. transl.] The introduction to the poetic collection of Wildernáin Villegas tries to highlight the production of this Mayan author, Nezahualcóyotl prize in indigenous languages of Mexico in 2009. This national recognition shows that the Mayan poetic tradition has reached high levels, in the fusion of ancestral resources and a formal experimentation that takes lymph from different poetic traditions. Also the symbolic mesh of the Mayan culture is superimposed on an interpretation of the world according to Western cultural coordinates, making this poetry a successful example of cultural syncretism and personal elaboration of the sources.
