Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The work of Marina Messeri, winner of the Agostino Gemelli prize, aims to investigate, by probing as many texts as possible by Ugo di San Vittore, the Author's idea of the beauty of created realities. The solution to the investigation is not obvious, since Ugo approaches the theme of creaturely beauty influenced by Augustinian and Neoplatonic legacies, and is therefore sometimes tempted to demonize worldly realities in order to exalt supersensible ones. Despite this, it will emerge that Vittorino never supports the idea that the experience of sensitive beauty is to be considered negative in a broad sense: it is simply good not to idolize or consider as a point of arrival what is instead only the starting level of the journey.
