Abstract
The preface underlines the author’s theoretical opinion: there is only one way to argue the different expressive genres of Cicero’s works. Philosophy and rhetoric are no longer incompatible disciplines. There is a way of thinking that goes beyond the simplistic alternative between demonstrating and persuading, in which rhetoric becomes most supple and vital expression of knowledge.
