Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The risk of extremism and radicalization processes are becoming increasingly varied and creative in the use of social platforms, new technologies and communication strategies aimed at spreading radical messages and recruiting future extremists. In such a complex and conflictual scenario, the contribution of social sciences becomes essential in reading these phenomena, in identifying new threats and in promoting a personal and professional culture that is able to understand the changes taking place. Starting from the results emerging from the research activities conducted within the European project H2020 CounteR – Countering Radicalisation for a Safer World. Privacy-first situational awareness platform for violent terrorism and crime prediction, counter radicalisation and citizen protection, the volume aims to provide different interpretative perspectives on radicalization processes. In particular, the phenomenon of extremism has been considered according to sociological, criminological, psycho-social and communicative approaches.
