Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The paper presents a case study on the management of organizational innovation processes according to a sustainability perspective. An innovation process can be defined as sustainable when an adequate balance is managed among the different - and potentially conflicting - needs, values and visions brought by the stakeholders involved. By adequate balance we mean a balance that allows each stakeholder to perceive their needs and visions sufficiently protected in the present and in the future. The contribution proposes the analysis of the case of launching a social and health organization, which is innovative in the Italian scenario both from an economic and service quality point of view; in this analysis the implementation practices of the new organizational model are discussed, with reference to their sustainability. Objectives The specific objectives of the study are: 1) to explore the practices that support the implementation of the new organizational model among the stakeholders involved; 2) explore the meanings and values associated with these practices and their perceived sustainability. Methodology Within an ethnographic approach, the selected tools are: shadowing and video diary of managers involved in the implementation of the new service model; non-participant observation of some topical moments in organizational life (planning and monitoring meetings); narrative interviews with managers and various stakeholders. Results and conclusions The data allow us to reflect on which implementation strategies of an innovative organization appear sustainable, underlining the importance of developing with the stakeholders both opportunities for acculturation to the new model (according to a top-down logic), and participatory planning opportunities and review of (old and new) organizational and professional practices (according to a bottom-up logic), supported by specific and coherent settings and artefacts.
