Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] My intention here is not to determine what is still current in the pages of Tilgher and what is not. I would rather focus on the fundamental value of this book which, among the first, had the merit of recognizing the existence of a "Leopardi philosophy". In my opinion, this is the essential historical and theoretical contribution - still valid - of Tilgher's work: a contribution that the following studies have confirmed and deepened, without ever denying it. After a few glimpses of the figure of Tilgher (§ I), I will first stop on the problem of philosopher Leopardi (§ II), then identify in his reflection the characteristic features of an Italian approach to philosophy ( § III). I will conclude with some purely bibliographical information on the studies devoted to Leopardi philosopher, from Tilgher to today (§ IV).
